Lag Time Equalizer Mode

Triggering multiple cameras to sync with one set of flash units can be difficult, but Lag Time Equalizer mode assists the photographer in calibrating the camera, electronic flash unit or both for simultaneous triggering and exposure synchronizing. Lag Time Equalizer mode measures the actual time it takes from the moment the motor driven camera is activated to the time the shutter is open with an accuracy of 1/10,000th of a sec. When all the delay times have been programmed, the MultiMAX triggers the camera with the greatest delay first, so that everything is perfectly in sync.

Lag Time Equalizer mode is perfect for synchronization of multiple cameras with one set of flash units  or for digital proofing.

The HOW-TO at right provides directions on how to equalize two cameras and one flash at 1/125 with three  MultiMAX (set for RECEIVE mode) For instructions on equalizing different configurations, refer to the instruction manual, pages 35 and 43 ~ 49.

Either:
1) Mount the MultiMAX to the camera's hot shoe
or
2) Connect via PORT 1 (CAMERA) to the camera's PC socket via the supplied miniphone-to-PC cord (MP1).

Connect a MultiMAX to a camera's motor drive port via PORT 2 (FLASH) and a Pre-Release cable (preferred for best performance).

Turn the MultiMAX on to TRANSMIT.

Press the up/down buttons to select channel 20, on which it will TRANSMIT.

Switch the Unit to RECEIVE mode.

Press the up/down buttons to select channel 22, on which it will RECEIVE.

Press L to activate RELAY Mode.

"RLY" and a channel number will appear at the bottom right corner of the screen.

In this example, the unit will RECEIVE on channel 22 and TRANSMIT on channel 20.

Connect a MultiMAX to a flash unit, and set it to RECEIVE on channel 20.

Using a third MultiMAX unit, turn it on to TRANSMIT (or any PocketWizard transmitter or a Sekonic meter with RT-32 module set to the same channel and Quad Zones if necessary).

Press the TEST button (or measure button with a Sekonic) to trigger the camera (on channel 22), which will in turn trigger the remote flash unit (on channel 20).
