Selecting which camera or flash zone triggers is as
easy as pressing a button in "Selective Quad Triggering"
mode. Conveniently select or deselect which flash and/or
camera triggers wirelessly in any combination with up
to 16 different channels without ever leaving the camera
position.
On any channel between 17 and 32 you may set up as
many as four zones (of lighting or cameras) for selective
triggering. Each Quad-Triggering Zone is designated
by a letter: A, B, C or D. Each zone may have
as many flash units or cameras triggered on the zone
as needed. .
The L button controls the "Local"
flash unit, which is connected to the MultiMAX with
a flash cord. Typically the local flash is on a flash
bracket at the camera position. You can select or deselect
the Local flash from triggering with the camera simply
by pressing the L button.
Example of Selective Quad-Triggering:
You are shooting in a large room which requires
several flash units in order to raise the overall light
level. During your shoot you will be changing camera
position often and direct flash or flare is possible
from your lighting. With Selective Quad-Triggering you
can turn off those flash units that may cause a problem.
How to set it up?
At each flash unit position, connect a MultiMAX
(set for RECEIVE mode), and select the channel frequency
number (only 17 to 32 offer Quad-Triggering) and the
Quad-Triggering zone (A, B, C or D).
Each MultiMAX (set for RECEIVE mode) must be set to
the same channel as the MultiMAX (set for TRANSMIT mode).
Each MultiMAX (set for RECEIVE mode) must also be assigned
a Quad-Triggering zones letter (A, B, C or D). For example:
the display on one of the Receivers would display 17A.
With all four zones of lighting set up, your ready
to experience "Selective Quad-Triggering"
(remote control triggering). If your camera was facing
the flash units set for 17A and 17B, you most likely
would not want them to triggering during the exposure
(avoiding the actual flash units from appearing in the
image causing lens flare) so shut them off by pressing
A and B on your MultiMAX (set for TRANSMIT mode). The
letters A and B will disappear, but C and D zones will
remain displayed on the LCD panel. Zones C and D represent
the flash units positioned at the opposite side of the
room, triggering behind the camera.
If you change the camera position to face C and D flash
units, simple press C and D to turn them off and then
press A and B to turn on the flash units that are now
behind the camera. Any combination of zones can be set
to trigger or not to trigger, its all at your command.
Please Note: Selective Quad-Triggering control is also
possible with remote motor driven cameras.
