There’s More to Wireless Than Cutting the Cord
The PocketWizard Wireless Triggering System enables fluid, untethered triggering between all of the components of your photographic imaging system. Specifically, PocketWizards enable wireless communication between your cameras, Sekonic meters, as well as your lights - regardless of where you end up placing them. Multiple cameras and/or lights can be fired in unison or in precisely timed sequences to capture most any scenario. PocketWizard enables all of the components in your imaging system to work in concert predictably, consistently, and wirelessly, under the most trying of circumstances.
But PocketWizard does more than pop your lights. PocketWizards can orchestrate your lights to fire in precisely controlled sequences under the most complex of lighting and/or shooting conditions. Sports and industrial shooters will appreciate the ability to position cameras and lights as far as 1600 feet from the transceiver while maintaining total control of each component within the system, at burst-rates of up to 12 frames-per-second. Ultra-fast microprocessors enable trigger-response times as short as 1/3000th of a second allowing for reliable top-end sync speeds of 1/500th for focal plane shutters and 1/1000th for leaf shutters (MultiMAX FAST MODE).
It’s fair to say PocketWizards have become the industry standard as they come pre-installed in select lighting systems from Profoto, DynaLite, Norman, and Photogenic.
For wireless flash metering, mini PocketWizard transmitters are plug & play options for Sekonic’s L-358, L-558, L-608 and L-758Cine light meters, and included in the L-758DR. They communicate fluently with other PocketWizard units as well as older-version PocketWizards in a choice of up to 32 channels.

The PocketWizard Moment
If you shoot for a living there’s a good chance you’ve probably shown up on location only to find things other than as described in countless pre-shoot conference calls. Power outlets are far and few between, and the second floor balcony you planned on shooting from turns out to be in a different building. And all those floor-to-ceiling windows you were counting on to lighten up the background…they’re also in the other building…alongside the missing balcony.
The only way you’re going to get the shot is by shimmying up the tallest ladder you can find and clamp the camera to that hot water pipe that snakes along the wall where the balcony was supposed to be. As for the lights, unpack all of the extension cords and get to work. You’ve got your PocketWizards. This is going to be a walk in the park.
Stuff happens now and then, and when it does, you can count on your PocketWizard system to get you through the deepest of ‘stuff’.
Shooting wirelessly, that is, having the ability to trigger lights and/or cameras without need of a sync cord is a neat trick. It’s also the key reason photographers buy wireless-triggering systems in the first place. And while eliminating sync cords is a neat accomplishment in itself, it’s only the first step in how wireless technology can enable you to try lighting techniques you could only dream about not all that long ago.
“Your reputation should never depend on the length of a sync cord.”
PocketWizards are designed to do more than pop your lights. They’re designed to make you a better photographer.
And remember – your reputation should never depend on the length of a cord.
