Alycia Alvarez
Based in Tampa, Florida, Alycia is an Internationally Award-Winning portrait photographer, who specializes in babies and children.   In addition, Alycia’s work can be seen in many publications, including Rangefinder and a feature spread in Professional Children’s Portrait Photography.
Alycia has always had a passion for photography. During her years in college, she studied the art of black and white photography. After becoming a mother herself, she realized how quickly her children changed right before her very eyes. Relentlessly, she began to document their little lives through countless photographs, which she knew would capture a glimpse of the person they were at each particular moment in their life.
For every picture taken, a moment in time is remembered.
Alycia's objective with each person she photographs is to create an image that will reveal something truly unique about the individual...sharing a little bit of "who" they are, instead of just "what" they looked like.  Capturing true and genuine personality is Alycia's passion. Her style relies very little on props to uncover the true essence of her subjects and the many aspects of their character.  Her goal is to create portraits that are not only loved and cherished by friends and family, but to create works of art that make complete strangers stop and admire.

During the WPPI show in Las Vegas, Alycia spent part of the day shooting with the new MiniTT1 Transmitter. View the video below and hear what Alycia had to say about the MiniTT1.  Scroll below the video to read about how she set the shots up:

Setup 1:
Canon 5D, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, PocketWizard MiniTT1, Profoto ComPact 600R (Classic channel 18), 4x6’ Softbox, Silver Reflector, Backdrop by Denny Manufacturing.

Setup 2:
Canon 5D, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, Pocketwizard MiniTT1 and MultiMAX Transceivers, Profoto ComPact 600R  (Classic channel 18), 4x6’ Softbox, Westcott 42" Silver pop-out Reflector, Backdrop generously provided by Denny Manufacturing.

"I am really loving the improved compact size/style of the new Pocketwizards.  Photographing babies & children, I move around a lot and having a ‘less bulky’ attachment is a plus! In addition, I love that I can use it as a “remote trigger”, especially when I am creating a backlit ‘silhouette portrait’ and need to step to the side of my camera to entertain the babies/children. And even better…it’s compatible with the former PocketWizards I own!"
