The MAC Group, PocketWizard’s U.S. Distributor, is pleased to announce that from now until January 31st, 2010, owners of the PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver in the United States will be able to receive one AC5 RF Soft Shield free of charge for every FlexTT5 they own.
Since the introduction of the new MiniTT1 Transmitter and FlexTT5 Transceiver earlier this year in the US, photographers have struggled with limited range performance when the FlexTT5 radios (340 - 354 MHz FCC models) were paired with Canon 430EX, 580EX and 580EX II Speedlites. Radio frequency interference emanating from these flashes around the PocketWizard reception frequency was the crux of the problem. PocketWizard has done extensive development and testing to come up with the AC5 RF Soft Shield, a simple solution to reduce interference and improve performance of the FlexTT5.
The AC5 will be available starting in mid to late November, 2009. To receive AC5 Soft Shields, FlexTT5 owners simply sign up via the on-line form found here. You must list the serial numbers for each FlexTT5 you own that needs an AC5 Soft Shield for the flash. Duplicate serial numbers will be rejected. Product will ship on a first come, first served basis. We will post a news update when they begin shipping on our News page and our Facebook page.
As an alternative, the AC7 RF Shield will also be available around mid to late November for an introductory price of $29.95. The AC7 is a hard plastic shield with a special RF coating that integrates a ¼-20 mounting device and umbrella mount to aid in positioning your flash where you want it. You may indicate interest in this product on the AC5 signup page and you will be contacted when they become available.
U.S. customers can sign up for the AC5 by clicking here and filling out the form at the bottom of the page.

Customers in other markets will need to contact their local distributor for information on the AC5 in their market. 433 MHz units sold in Europe and other parts of the world are not greatly impacted by RF interference.
